MONTEVERDI MÉTODO BÉLICO
With Monteverdi Método Bélico (Monteverdi War Method), El Periférico de Objetos approaches lyrical theater for the first time. The mix includes technology, Claudio Monteverdi’s madrigals, the orchestra conductor’s baton and the group’s own nightmares. Puppets ranging from 50 cm to 4 meters high, brutally realistic mannequins, human-size automats that incessantly copulate, babies who speak or cry on remote control, tweezers of all types and sizes, shadow theater, video projections, references to Marx Brothers, a bloodthirsty audition, plus the exquisite music of the Eighth Book of Madrigals -madrigals of war and love-, are the bits and pieces of this new theatrical machine that strives to unmask the façade of contemporary man, the mask of laughter that conceals the horror vacui of this second baroque period.
