El Matadero.3 is the third stage of the serial performance’s project that begun with El Matadero-Slaughterhouse and finishes with El Matadero.6: Ciudad Juárez in 2008.
In this case using the same formal structure as in the previous editions the space changes.
The chosen venue in now a warehouse in the district of San Telmo. The audience is invited to build a story taking into consideration their own point of view as spectators (speaking in spatial and conceptual terms, since there is no physical nor poetical division between them and the play).
The main material that organizes the action is Artaud’s “To Have Done With the Judgment of god” opening several doors to let the abnormal in (understanding abnormal as that that is out of the norm) in order to make the audience confront an imagery of bizarre minorities, to attend an amazing praise to ugliness as real beauty, mental illness as a sign of health and non conventional sexuality as the true free expression of an individual.
