ANNA O
Second chamber opera in collaboration with composer and musical director Marcelo Delgado. This is a stage-musical exploration on the issue of duality. Guided by a blind smelly Host, the audience tours around a space-turned-labyrinth to be placed in front of four tableaux-vivants that unveils gender violence in Victorian times and the social construction of so-called psychic illnesses. Hysteria as a form of social representation of late nineteenth century female duality. The famous case of Anna O. -Bertha Pappenheim-Breuer and Freud- triggers a fragmented, schizophrenic opera, whose leading character is represented by two performers.
